How she arrived...

Layla Ruby Anderson came to us around 5:00 pm on July 9th. After being induced and chillin' in the hospital for about 5 hours...it was time to push. Sally pushed four times, through 2 contractions, for 10 min and she was here! Such a contrast to Maycee...apparently Layla was ready. Makes sense, she was a whopping 8lbs 11oz! It was fun to have family there to meet her right away and so fun to see how Maycee first reacted to her little sister. The first night in the hospital ended up being a little rough...Layla wasn't eating very well and threw up everything she did get down. They ended up having to run extra tests, including a blood draw. At around 2 am the nurse finally let us know that she had amniotic fluid in her stomach and they had to pump her stomach...so sad. She was a happier and better eating baby after so I guess it was worth it. The rest of our stay at the hospital was pretty much routine with lots of visitors and we headed home on Sunday July 11th to begin our life as a family of four! (sorry about all the pictures...)
Playin' the waiting game...
The first time mom met her daughter...
Big Baby!!

Maycee's first encounter with the baby...captured it perfectly! She warmed up really quick though!!
First sister kiss...MANY to follow
Family of Four!!!
We had so many visitors! Thank you so much to all our friends and family that took time to come see us and meet Layla...we love you all!!
Watching the "Belle" movie together
Notice the Angels booties...a must for all the Anderson babies when leaving the hospital. Maycee wore them as I am sure any other future babies will too!!
Ready for the ride...
Layla had a present waiting at home for Maycee...just to make sure she really won her over. Maycee loved it and loves her little sister too!!

4th

We headed down south for the Stadium of Fire this year to celebrate Independence Day. It ended up being a really nice night, not too hot and some fun entertainment...

This shirt couldn't be MORE true! This little girl wants to do EVERYTHING on her own...
The details of the night and the company...both really great!!
The concert was Carrie Underwood...SO good!
What a view!!

The Fourth...
Our holiday celebrations generally revolve around food...
On the fourth we started the day with some red, white and blue cinnamon rolls. Then ended with a good old bar-b-que. What better way to celebrate America then with a hamburger and hot dog. And finish it off with Jell-O and a fruit pizza!
We also learned that someone loves guacamole...
And we love it when she says guacamole!!

Oh...Summertime!

Any excuse to be outside is welcome around here! Here is a taste of a few of the things we have been doing this summer...
Playing with the water table grandma and grandpa got her for her birthday. She wants it full then proceeds to scoop out all the water onto the porch...whatever keeps her busy!

We have spent too many hours to count at any park we can find...most of the time has been spent on the swings. On this particular day we had some fun with Jack and Halle on the the big slide.

Maycee and Halle are the bestest of friends...always asking to go to each others houses and wanting to ride in each others cars. I hope this friendship will stick forever!
Last but not least we spend as much time as we can at the pool. We love having friends come swim with us! Maycee and Sophia had so much fun splashing and playing...

Three Lovely Ladies

This is Sally's grandma and her two sisters. Its not very often the three of them are together so when they are, its an occasion!! And, where better to celebrate than Chuck-A-Rama??? That's right...it was a lovely meal!
This is my grandaddy, he is 103 years old!! Yes, that is a full glass of Dr. Pepper he is carrying! So this means its ok for me to drink it all I want, right??

Sophia, Grandma Hortense & Maycee
She loves him!! And I think he may like her a little too...whenever he sees her he sings childrens songs to her in German. Quite possibly the sweetest thing ever!!
Sally's brothers and the old guy.
She loves this guy too...and so do I!

St. George

We braved the heat and headed down south to St George to see a show at Tuachan and hang out with KC's cousin and family. We beat the heat at the pool and had a great night at the beautiful outdoor theater to see Tarzan. The show was so good...even Maycee watched the whole thing and loved it!
Love the ruffle bum!!
Showing dad the skills she learned in her swimming lessons...blowing bubbles.

Maycee had to try out little Kennedy's floatie...didn't last too long.
She didn't want to leave this step...
She had so much fun with Jayla! Asked about her for the next week or so...
This is the only picture I got at Tuachan...then my camera broke.
At least I caught a bit of the beautiful scenery that is Tuachan.
