In lieu of a big brother...

Maycee's cousin Jack loves her so much! In fact I think he loves her as much as a big brother (believe me I know what thats like). He runs to see her the minute we walk in the door, always wants to hold her, and HAS to give her at least one kiss before we leave. I think he is the closest thing she will ever have to a big brother. The classic example of this occured yesterday while we were hanging out at Kristins. I sat Macey on the bed while I removed old toe nail polish and Jack climbed up next to her with his pad of paper and marker. The first thought I had was for Kristins white bed spread then I told him to not draw on Maycee either. I think that just planted the idea in his mind. When I stood up from the ground I found Jack with marker all over his legs and Maycee with some new colorful feet. This is the end product....

Maycee the Model

One of the highlights of where we live is all the young couples we have as our neighbors. We have made lots of good friends since we have been out here and its nice to have people to talk to in our same situation. A couple of our neighbors have some skills in photography and have been so nice to use Maycee as their model. We got some taken when she was about a month and the latest were her 3 month pictures. I can't believe how big she is already and how much she has changed! Love her!

Go Utes!!

This last Saturday was the home opener for the Utes. So great to be back at Rice-Eccles cheering on the Utes to their victory over UNLV. We met up with some of my family for a little pre-game meal, then headed to the stadium and found our seats right on the 50 yd line. Mayce enjoyed the game again and had a great time hanging out with Grandpa. Looking forward to a great season!!

BYU 28 - Washington 27

After going to Michigan last week and wearing red, K.C. had to purify himself and went with Chuck to Seattle for the BYU vs Washington game. It was a great game with a game winning blocked extra point......still on track for an undefeated showdown with Utah in November! Go Cougs and Utes!

It Really Pays To Be Our Friend.....

So ya'll remember back in July our good friend Spanky invited us to attend his taping of "Deal Or No Deal" with him, where he won $263,000 (see the blog post from July)...Well yesterday we watched as our second friend Jessica was a contestant...and she ended up being the first person ever to win the $1 Million! Jessica worked at EFY with us and went on a cruise with us and several other friends a few years ago. We are so exited for her! Click on this link to see a video of her winning the $1 Million. Way to go Jessica!!!!

It has begun...

In a sea of Blue and Maize....

Red sure stands out!!

We headed to Ann Arbor Michigan this last weekend to watch the Utes open up the 2008 college football season. It was an awesome experience and so cool to be in the Big House as part of the crowd of 108,421 people! Maycee did well and enjoyed her first football game while sporting a cute Ute outfit.

Is that water green?

Saturday we had a fun boating day with the Anderson fam. It was such a great feeling to be out on the lake and to get back on the ski! It was pretty much heaven for me, skiing, sun, and lots of snacks! Maycee loved the boat and slept nearly the whole time, even when ACDC was blaring from the speakers. I think she will follow in her mother's footsteps and be a boater at heart. Maybe when she gets older she can convince daddy to get a boat. KC got out on the wakeboard to prove he has gotten better than me, then after a little wakeboard run myself, I showed him who is the best on the slalom. I was a little worried because it was the first time I had been out since the baby. But, once my feet got back in those boots it was like I never had a break. I am sad I couldn't get a picture of the whole crew, but the camera was running low on battery and died every time I tried to get a group photo. A huge thanks to Randy and Kristin for taking us out and letting us invade your house. It was a blast!!

Our cute boating baby!!

Way to go KC!!

The TRUE California Experience

Last week we celebrated our 4 year anniversary. Its hard to believe its already been that long! We have sure been through a lot together. We took a little jaunt to California on Monday night and came home Tuesday night. Just long enough to experience the beach and two wonderful meals. On Tuesday morning, we took Maycee for a swim at the hotel pool, then as we were in our room getting ready for the day, I noticed the windows shaking a bit and thought it was weird the wind was blowing so hard. As I turned and saw all the furniture in our hotel room shaking as well, I realized we were in an earthquake! Yes, we were in the 5.4 magnitude earthquake that jolted the Los Angels area last Tuesday morning at 11:24 am. K.C. jumped out of the shower all soapy and dripping wet, and we all huddled in the doorway of the bathroom and rode out the 12 second tremor. I brushed it off as not much, considering I have been in bigger ones. But, as we watched the news I had to laugh because they made it out to be such a huge deal. You would think that living in California where earthquakes are a somewhat common occurrence, they would brush it off as well. Nope...they were talking to all kinds of experts and receiving personal accounts from various viewers, it was quite entertaining.

We finished getting ready while listening to the hotel manager announce to all guests that there had just been an earthquake, as if we were trying to figure out what just happened. We then headed to In-N-Out for a delicious burger (animal style of course) and chocolate shake. Then off to Santa Monica Pier to walk it all off. It was a bit overcast but it soon burned off and we were able to enjoy a wonderful sunny afternoon at the beach.

We then headed down to Anaheim to meet KC's relatives at his favorite little hole in the wall mexican restaurant called Mexi-Casa. Along with the drive down the freeway came the traffic, another California exclusive. What should have been a 30 min drive ended up an hour and a half drive. When we finally arrived we enjoyed the much anticipated chips and cheese. I think KC was on cloud nine while he devoured them. The drive was well worth it to see KC's cousin and cute wife and kids and Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Stefanie.

Then it was back to the airport for a plane trip back to the great state of Utah. It was fun to celebrate our four years of marriage experiencing all California has to offer. From the great food, to the traffic, to the beautiful beaches and even an earthquake! Love you KC! Hope all our anniversary trips are this adventurous!

**Note: the lack of pictures stems from my memory card going corrupt last week. I have a team of enigineers working on retrieving the photos. I will post photos if they are recovered.

Can't get enough...

Maycee is so cute to me today for some reason...not that she isn't always cute, but today there is just something about her...
